For the month of January our role play area was transformed into a corner shop. The pupils in Junior and Senior Infants loved taking on the roles of the shopkeeper, the cashier and the customers. There was lots of opportunities to practise our letters and numbers with customers writing shopping lists and the cashiers adding up the prices of all the items bought. In Maths we’ve been learning all about money, we got to use real and toy coins to buy the items in the shop.
In the Small World area we designed our very own shop fronts from pet shops to cake shops. Using Lego in our Construction station we made shops, with machinery and car shops proving the most popular to build! At the Literacy station we engaged in free writing and also revised our letter sounds and practised our blending skills using the Starfall app on the ipads and playing word BINGO.
