Pancake Tuesday provided lots of opportunity for learning in the infant classroom. We began by carrying out a survey to determine the most popular topping for pancakes, tallying the results and displaying the data on a bar chart. We learned the ingredients as gaeilge and used our sequencing skills to put the pictures of the method steps for making pancakes in the right order. We recited and acted out the poem Mix a Pancake by Christina Rossetti. Finally we practised our procedural writing by writing the recipe steps in our copies. We shared lots of interesting ideas for pancakes, with suggestions of adding blueberries or chocolate chips into the batter proving to be popular with all.
