The children in Junior and Senior Infants have been learning and developing through play since September under the curriculum framework Aistear. Each day the boys and girls are given opportunities to play at the different stations where they engage in role play, creative play, small world play and constructive play.
In September, our theme for Aistear was “Homes”. The children learned about different types of houses and homes from around the world. In the home corner they engaged in various activities from cooking, cleaning and washing clothes to writing shopping lists and minding babies. At the construction station the children made houses from 2D shapes and from the giant polydrons. The children made homes and villages using Lego at the small world station and played with the doll’s house. The sandbox was a firm favourite for all the children during the month.
