We had great fun completing engineering challenges during the week. Infants looked at some famous buildings and structures from around the world including the Eiffel Tower, the Taj Mahal and the pyramids and built them using lego. Other classes looked at all the different types of engineers and drew pictures of what they thought engineers looked like!
Some of the challenges included the tennis ball challenge, the egg drop challenge, building a table with newspaper and a lego board, constructing a bridge with one sheet of paper and blocks and the one we all loved the marshmallow and spaghetti challenge! As the week went on groups began to look at how they could improve their design, thinking like real engineers. They felt that they should also test the materials they were using properly ………….. which meant eating some marshmallows! Yummy!!
We also had a Skype call with an engineer and talked about the many other engineers we know and what kind of work they do. Take a look at some future engineers at work below!
