Pupils in 5th and 6th class took part in the “Say Yes to Languages” programme. As part of this programme, they learnt all about Spain and Spanish culture. Our tutor Monika, spent 10 weeks teaching some basic Spanish to the pupils. We also learnt about other Spanish speaking countries. On Friday, 12th of June, we held our first Spanish Language Day in the school hall, where pupils celebrated all things Spanish.
Pupils made board games with Spanish vocabulary which were very creative and fun to play! There were beautiful posters displayed on the walls with days of the week, colours, flowers, animals and information about Spanish culture such as flamenco dancing and bull fighting etc. They learned about cubism art work and did some cubism artwork of their own to display. Pupils made some traditional foods including paella, Spanish omlette, churros and chocolate dipping sauce. Pupils worked very hard in putting this Spanish day together and kindly invited all classes in the school to the hall to experience Spanish culture and taste all the Spanish foods.
