Junior & Senior Infant Tour

By June 17, 2026No Comments

On Thursday 11th June all 16 Junior and Senior Infants headed off excitedly to Turoe pet farm accompanied by Ms Brennan, Ms Chambers and Niamh and our bus driver Kieran. The children enjoyed their snacks and treats from home during the trip and in no time at all we had arrived at Turoe. We were greeted on arrival by Trevor who was to be our guide for the day. Our first stop was the huge bouncy castle play area where great fun ensued, next the children enjoyed the soft play area before settling down to a hot lunch of chips, nuggets, sausages and lots of ketchup!! Once refreshed, Trevor lead us on a tour of the pet farm where the children got the opportunity to pet and feed an array of animals from rabbits, goats to sheep and pigs. The miniature horse and her baby foal were firm favourite for many of the children. Over by the stream Trevor enthralled the children with stories of St. Patrick turning the water green and further downstream he told the children about the old farmer next door who buried his gold only for it to be lost at the bottom of the riverbed forever. Some eagle-eyed children spotted the gold glistening from the riverbank. Next came the most exciting spotting- when Trevor pointed out, lying beneath the bridge, the shadow of a very fierce but luckily sleepy creature – a crocodile! Trevor guided the children along the path past the fairy trees and the wishing tree back to enjoy the playground and sandpit area. It was then time for the end of our wonderful trip and time to make the journey home.
