All pupils from infants to 6th have been taking part in hurling coaching which has been offered to schools by Ballygar club for the past few weeks. The coaches bring all the hurls, helmets and sliotars needed for the coaching sessions. Pupils initially learned about the different parts of the hurl and which way to grip it properly. They are also learning the basic skills and practising these skills each week such as pucking the sliotar and lifting it from the ground with the hurl. At the end of each session we try to use our skills in a game. We are really enjoying learning new skills and we have been really lucky with the weather for hurling coaching!
