Fís is a successful film project currently thriving in primary schools across Ireland. The initiative encourages children to explore the medium of film in the primary classroom developing essential skills in moving-image literacy, communication, teamwork and the visual arts. The Fís Film Project is a collaborative partnership between the Institute of Art, Design & Technology (IADT) and the Professional Development Service for Teachers (PDST).
The 17th annual Fís Film awards took place on Wednesday 22nd of February in the Helix Theatre, D.C.U. and was a celebration of the incredible films produced by schools across the country in 2022. Sinéad Kennedy from RTÉ hosted the awards ceremony with awards presented in many different categories including best director, best costumes, best acting, best production, best curriculum relevance and best special effects amongst others. Glinsk N.S. won the best junior film award for their film The Nature Fairy based on an original storyboard script written by pupil Caoimhe Feeney. Ciara O’Donnell, National Director of the PDST and Rónán Ó Muirthile, Head of Dept. of Film & Media IADT presented the awards to winners at the ceremony.
