Celebrating World Book Day

There so many great costumes and props at school to celebrate World Book Day, with great time put into making costumes including knitted jumpers and specially sewn Harry Potter costumes. Pupils from all classrooms brought in their favourite books to share and read to each other during shared reading time. There were many fairy-tale characters, cute mice, sporting heroes, Horrid Henry, explorers, characters from Under the Hawthorn Tree remembering the great famine, Dirty Bertie characters and not to mention all the Roald Dahl characters including Fantastic Mr. Fox, the B.F.G., Bean, Mrs. Twit and Matilda.

Some rainbow fairies, a little witch, princesses, Pinocchio, Little Red Riding Hood & the big bad wolf all in one!, a super Creeper costume and great Minions, Jack and the Beanstalk, Aliens love Underpants character, Percy Jackson and Mary Poppins made sure there was plenty of colour and variety! The dentist was on hand to deal with any wobbly teeth that might fall out for the tooth fairy! Mini the Minx on the double were up to tricks but we were in safe hands with all the great super-heroes, including Ninjas, Spiderman, Batman, Superman, & Captain America!

Classes did a variety of literacy work based on World Book Day including writing questions they would like to ask their favourite author, drawing the cover of their favourite book and guessing each others character. Remember World Book Day book tokens are valid for the month of March so pick up another book and continue to enjoy them. Take a look at photos from our World Book Day.
