Army visit

Members of the Irish Army visited the school on Wednesday 7th of October. to deliver an Irish flag and a copy of the Proclamation as part of the Ireland 2016 Centenary Programme to commemorate the 1916 Rising. Pupils played, our national anthem,  Amhrán na bhFiann at the ceremony as our soldiers stood to attention.

Sergeant Green, Private Sherlock and Lieutenant Jamie McMahon taught the pupils the correct handling of our national flag and the protocol that surrounds this vibrant symbol of our nation.

The Proclamation of Independence was recited before it and the flag were presented to pupils in fifth and sixth class.
