St. Brigid’s Day

By February 17, 2023No Comments

Each year we celebrate St. Bridig’s Day and keep the cutom of making St. Brigid’s crosses from rushes alive and passing it to the next generations. Pupils in the senior classes helped pupils in the junior classes and in years to come as they improve their cross making skills each year they too will help to pass it on to younger pupils. We also made some extra crosses to leave in the church porch for parishioners who would like a St. Brigid’s cross for their home. The following blessing was available in the box for parishioners to take also.

St. Brigid’s Blessing

May Brigid bless the house wherein you dwell.

Bless every fireside, every wall and door.

Bless every heart that beats beneath it’s roof.

Bless every hand that toils to bring it joy.

Bless every foot that walks its portals through.

May brigid bless the house tha shelters you.
