Investigating with Infants

Science week was a busy week in Junior & Senior Infants with lots of opportunities for exploring and experimenting.

We had fun exploring oobleck-a combination of water and cornstarch, which behaved like liquid and then like solid depending on how much pressure we applied. We learned about finger prints, explored how gears work and investigated how the chemical reaction between an acid (vinegar) and a base (baking soda) created gas that blew up our balloon. Inspired by our very own little scientists, we explored surface tension with Jack, static electricity with Liam and the power of diffusion with Ella.

Take a look below at the various ways we put our predicting and investigating skills to practice in the Infant classroom during Science Week.
