On Friday 17th of April, we had a heritage in school workshop with Geraldine O’ Sullivan.
The children learnt all about the history of wool working in Ireland and had the chance to try their hand at spinning on a drop spindle, using a spinning wheel and also carding wool in preparation for spinning. The younger children dressed up in traditional woolen garments and used dyed fleece to create multicolored sheep collages.
The older children weaved bracelets and created multicolored woven decorations and learnt how to prepare a box as a loom for weaving.
