Dáil Visit

Pupils in 4th & 5th class were invited to the Dáil as guests of the Minister for Education, Norma Foley. Last June both classes worked on a project based on the 25th Anniversay of the Good Friday Agreement. Pupils were invited to submit work based on the theme The Gift of Peace and the responsibility that comes with it.” Our project showed the map of Ireland around which there were 25 footprints representing each year since the Good Friday leading around to a small group of people looking to a bright new horizon representing the opportunities that come with peace. Each child put their handprint on the right hand side of the piece and famous quotes about peace were written on some of the handprints. Our project was chosen as the overal winner at primary level much to the delight of both classes. Take a look at some photos of our project below.

Our prize included a tour of Leinster House, a certificate for each child, a special medal for the school and lunch as a guest of the Minister for Education. Pupils were delighted to meet local TD Michael Fitzmaurice on our tour. We started by going to the public gallery to view the Dáil sitting and were then taken on a tour of Leinster House, including Seanad Éireann. Take a look at some photos from our trip below.
