Our annual Christmas concert took place on Thursday 12th & Friday 13th of December to very supportive audiences. Each year much preparation and rehearsing takes place in each classroom in the lead up to the performances. Some pupils were taking to the stage for the first time and were understandably a little bit nervous but when they saw many familiar faces in the audience once the curtains were pulled, they rose to the occassion. All pupils gave great performances on stage with lovely singing also. Organising costumes takes time and pupils love dressing up in them for rehearsals which is all part of the fun, organising props, lossing props and finding them again just in time!
Staff gave the stage a make-over in advance of the Christmas plays this year with the girls in 6th class designing a lovely festive themed chalk display of all play titles.
Thank you to parents & grandparents who helped with repairs to costumes, sourcing costumes and props. Our Parents Associaiton were very active in prepartions for the performances and ensured all ran smoothly with admission to the performances, organising a raffle, providing refreshments and parking cars etc. There were many, many generous sport prizes donated for the raffles which were held on Thursday & Friday and we are very grateful for all the generous donations. Pupils from 4th, 5th & 6th classes played a selcetion of tunes on tinwhistle between plays as the audience arrived on Friday afternoon for the infants play.
Chairperson of the Parents Association, Elaine O’Neill spoke after the performances on Friday night, acknowledging all the hard work of the Parents Association committee during a very busy term which included organising the highly successful and entertaining American Tea Party. She paid tribute to those who took on roles for the American Tea Party of M.C. Elaine also outlined recent Parents Association expenditure on resources/ equipment for the benefit of all pupils which inlcudes freshening up of the yard markings and the purchase of 2 Lego tables.
